No More Single Use Plastic

Updated: May 16, 2022

At Legasea we have committed to eliminating single-use plastics on our site in Birchmoss to further reduce our impact on the natural world. We have introduced a single-use plastic policy that comes into effect from 1st September 2021.

Single use plastics are known to be one of the largest causes of environmental pollution to date, causing extreme harm to marine life and having a devastating effect on the ocean’s biodiversity and sustainability. Single-use plastics range from plastic bags to cleaning wipes and drinking straws, and these are all items that will be eliminated from Legasea. In the UK, the amount of single-use plastic waste every year would fill 1,000 Royal Albert Halls. It takes at least 450 years for a plastic bottle to degrade, so it is key to minimise the amount of single-use plastics we rely on daily.

Lewis Sim, Legasea’s Managing Director said, “Legasea understands the importance of protecting the environment and we want to do our bit to help tackle the climate crisis. We focus on the circular economy with the projects we complete in the workshop, but now we want this to reflect the business as a whole.”
